Negative thoughts, anxiety and worry.

During any period of career uncertainty it is not surprising that negative thoughts will occur, with anxiety and worry combining to create a toxic and unhealthy state of mind. Pilots are resilient by training and nature. But we are not bullet proof. We need to understand that sometimes we need to talk, and sometimes we need the support and assistance of our mates, our peers and our managers.

Whilst making this module we discussed the Coronavirus situation with a number of peers. Some are quietly and confidently ‘taking care of business’. But some are in a worryingly bad place. If you have pilot friends who are affected by redundancy, furlough or some other change to their lives, it costs nothing to check in on them. If they are OK they will quickly tell you.
